My mom had told me a myriad of stories about how I was as a baby, the joy she felt when she had me and the many adventures of raising a child like me.
I remember her telling me that when I was still in her womb, she sang songs and read me stories so I would come out as a good singer and a good speaker. She believed that in doing so, she would enhance my capabilities especially my cognitive skills. Maybe that's true because I grew up loving music and singing as well. I grew up smart (ehem!) and brilliant.
I never realized how fun the real adventure of being a mom is until I had my own child. Before, I thought that motherhood is only about watching your child grow and mature. I didn't know that parenthood also has growth stages, that you also grow as your child grows.
When I was pregnant with Vito, I was always amused with how his tiny fingers traced the walls of my tummy. He would trace along those walls as if he was trying to tell me something. I thought to myself, "my baby might be an artist." Haha. Each kick he did was something I tremendously enjoyed. We had adventures early on. Believe it or not, I joined a videoke contest at SM on my fourth month of pregnancy (due to my mom's endless request). On my sixth month, I was pushed by a crowd trying to get on a bus and I got wounded all over. Sigh! What an adventure.
Now, Vito is already a year old and the adventure is becoming more exciting. No one can stop him from walking. All I need to do now is catch up with him.
It's really fun being a first-time mom.
